Members should come from European countries, from which participants regularly attend the Europe Rallies. Europe Rally Committee accepts a maximum of two members per country. Committee members are required to have a valid “Camping Card International.” They are members in a ‘personal capacity’ and do represent their country and not their club or federation. They pay a yearly contribution as a member and for their participation in the European Rally. They are not bound by instructions from their club or federation.
How can one become a member of the Europe Rally Committee?
Candidates can be nominated:
By national or regional (camping) associations or clubs and also by existing members in the Europe Rally Committee. New members are elected by majority vote of the members present in the General Assembly. If there are equal votes, the vote of the person chairing the meeting shall prevail. A candidate from a country that is already represented in the Committee, needs the support of the already existing compatriot on the Committee. New candidates must be nominated in writing by 31 December of the year preceding the General Meeting, to the President.
End of membership
Membership ends by death, resignation or exclusion. Resignation must be in person and in writing to the president of the Committee. Exclusion occurs only if a member harms the interests of the Committee. An exclusion is decided by the General Assembly and needs a 2/3 majority.
The Presidium is composed of the President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. They are elected by the Committee by secret ballot – to the presidency for three years – by majority decision. In order to ensure continuity we work with a retirement schedule.
If during the period – by resignation or other reasons (e.g. death) – a function is released in the intervening Presidency, the Presidium may co-opt a candidate. The president’s voice is predominant in this area. This candidate can be elected at the next General Assembly.
Those who opt for a position in the Presidium must submit their candidacy – in writing – by 31 December of the year preceding the General Assembly to the Chairman of the Committee.
Sadly we have to say goodbye to Diny de Jong, she was our Secretary for many years, and a wonderful member of the Rallye Committee, since the very beginning. She has passed away last august at the age of 81.
(31 March 1941 – 26 August 2022)
Her words to live by were:
Yesterday is history, tomorrow still a mystery today is a gift, the PRESENT
We will miss you Diny, thank you for all happy, optimistic entousiasm and funny remarks.
The “Europe Rally Committee” was founded in 1961, on Whit Monday during the 1st Europe Rally of campers and caravanners in Remich, Luxembourg.
At the General Meeting of May 20, 1994 statutes were established in Ghent, Belgium and after that the Committee was registered as an official “non-profit association” with the RCSL in Luxembourg.
The purpose of this association is to encourage all campers with tent, caravan or motor caravans (hereinafter referred to as “campers”) to participate in a meeting, which is organized every year at Pentecost under the name EUROPE RALLY. In this way we support to create and maintain friendly contacts between campers from all countries in Europe. Borders, politics and religion do not play a role.
Therefore, religious and political propaganda is prohibited during the Europe Rallye.
What does the Committee do?
Each year the Committee keeps two meetings during the Europa Rallye.
1. The General Assembly of the Committee, which decides on Finance and
the composition (membership) of the Committee.
2. Committee meeting with the organizers at the end of the Rally. In this meeting the rally is evaluated; and it is decided about the place and the
location of the next rallyes and to what association or federation the organization is entrusted.
Further the Committee assesses whether the future organizers are able to organize a Europa Rally. He appoints each year, before the rally is entrusted to an organizer, a delegation to check on site the proposed program and the rally site selection. This delegation is authorized to cancel the Europe Rally, if they find, during the inspection visit, that the announced program and the rally site do not meet the conditions.
Furthermore, the Committee monitors the Rally fee and the relationship between this contribution and the program offered by the organizers.
Attention: The responsibility for the organization and implementation of the Rally lies solely with the organizing club or federation.
